Nethermore 10 Man Raid Loot Policy
Raid Structure
Nethermore categorizes its raid attendees into three groups:
-
Members are the regular raid attendees. They make up the core group of raid members.
Substitutes (SUBs) are secondary raid members who are willing to fill in when a primary member is unable to attend.
Pick-ups (PUGs) are individuals that are either located at the last moment or have not met the requirements to become a Substitute.
All Members and Substitutes have full loot privileges which include the ability to Suicide for loot as well as participate in the Free-roll.
PUG attendees are not allowed to suicide for loot, but are allowed to participate in the Free-roll.
Loot Master
Each Nethermore raid will appoint one member as the Loot Master. This is normally the same person for each raid instance (i.e., Khara Group 1 each week). However, the Raid Leadership may change this from time to time. Any changes in Loot Master will be announced to all attendees.
The Loot Master initiates the loot process when an appropriate level item drops. The primary purpose of the Loot Master is to ensure the loot process is handled quickly and fairly. Additionally, they may arbitrate any disputes that arise.
Loot Process
Unless otherwise stated by the Raid Leadership, Rare Quality (blue) items and below are handled by the game's Group Loot mechanism. All Epic Quality (purple) items and above are handled by the following process.
When an appropriate level item drops, the Loot Master initiates the loot process. This process is broken into four phases: Announcement, Suicide Kings, Free-roll and Guild Bank.
Announcement Phase
In this phase, the Loot Master announces in Raid Chat (links) all appropriate level items that dropped. While only one item is processed at a time, all items are announced first. This allows players to make a more informed choice. (For example, a player might pass on the first item in favor of a second or third item.)
After the items have been announced, the Loot Master will select one of the items and initiate the Suicide Kings phase for that item.
Note: Any suicides received by the Loot Master for items other than the one selected will be ignored. Please hold your suicide requests until the item you are interested in is being considered.
Suicide Kings Phase
To start the phase, the Loot Master will announce the specific item up for grabs. During the phase, the Loot Master will accept whispers/tells from those on the suicide list who are interested in the item. (Please no voice chat requests so as to avoid confusion.) After an appropriate amount of time (10 - 20 seconds), the Loot Master will announce that the Suicide Kings Phase will be closing shortly (usually 3 - 5 seconds). If you need more time please send the Loot Master a tell or ask via voice chat.
If you send a suicide request but then change your mind, send a whisper to the Loot Master to cancel your request.
Important: Once the Loot Master has ended the phase, any further suicide requests or cancellations will be ignored. The item will be distributed based on the received requests at that time.
The person highest on the list to suicide wins the item. For additional detail on Suicide Kings, see Suicide Kings: How does it work? below.
If a player suicides for the item and wins it, the Loot Master will select the next item (if any) and begin the Suicide Kings phase for it. If there were no winning player suicides, the Loot Master will call for a Free-roll.
Requirement: Primary Class Need
The Loot Master may question any suicide for an item from an individual if that item is not clearly a primary class need. Primary class need is defined as any item that supports the principal function of the player. For example, a Protection Paladin chooses to suicide for a plate item that is primarily for a Holy Paladin. While the Protection Paladin might be able to use it for a healing set, their primary function is to tank. It would be within the Loot Master's right to question the suicide. The Loot Master may reject the suicide if the Protection Paladin cannot show how it helps them tank (higher armor, better defense, etc.).
Free-roll Phase
If an item has no winning suicides, the Loot Master initiates the Free-roll phase. The Free-roll phase is open to all attendees including PUGs. The Loot Master will call for rolls. Any player that can use the item may roll on it (/roll). After an appropriate amount of time (5 - 10 seconds) the Loot Master will announce that the Free-roll Phase will be closing shortly (usually 3 - 5 seconds).
Important: Once the Loot Master has ended the phase, any further rolls will be ignored.
The player with the highest roll wins the item. In the event of a tie between two or more players, the Loot Master will request those players roll again (/roll) until a winner is determined.
If a player wins the item, the Loot Master will select the next item (if any) and begin the Suicide Kings phase for it. If there were no rolls, the Loot Master will move to the Guild Bank phase.
Requirement: Use
The Loot Master may question any free-roll for an item from an individual if that item is not clearly useable by their class. Use is defined as supporting a principal or secondary function of the player. For the Protection Paladin example above, they would be allowed to roll on a primarily Holy Paladin plate item.
If the item does not support a principal or secondary for any class type (i.e., [ Fiery Warhorse's Reins]), then anyone interested in the item may roll.
This should not be considered a greed roll. If you plan to vendor or auction the item, please do not roll. Anyone caught abusing the Free-roll phase may be dismissed from the raid.
Guild Bank Phase
Any item not distributed by this point will be collected and donated to the Nethermore Guild Bank. At the discretion of the Raid Leadership, if the item is Bind on Equip, it may be placed in the Guild Bank. It may also be disenchanted by an attending Enchanter and the resulting shards/crystals placed in the bank. Finally, it may also be sold at Auction or to a vendor with the proceeds going into the Guild Bank.
If there are any remaining items, the Loot Master will select one and begin the Suicide Kings phase for it.
Suicide Kings: How does it work?
Suicide Kings is a list based system where each Member or Substitute in attendance is ranked. The initial ranking (first raid run) is established by rolling a random number from 1 - 1000 (/roll 1000). The rolls are then ranked from highest to lowest roll with the highest being first. Once the initial ranking is established, new Members or Substitutes are added to the bottom of the list prior to the start of the raid. Since PUGs are not allowed to suicide, they are not added to the list.
During the Suicide Kings Phase, each player who is interested in the item sends a suicide request (via a whisper) to the Loot Master. Of the players who suicide, the one highest on the list wins. That player is then dropped to the bottom of the list. Players who requested to suicide but did not win are not affected.
As players successfully suicide, everyone else is moved up the list. Eventually those on the bottom will move to the top and be first in line for an item they are interested in.
Note: Players on the list that are not in attendance for a particular raid do not move up when someone suicides. They do not lose their spot either. Instead, players who are in attendance move around that person.
So, for example, assume Jill, Jack and Jane are part of the Khara 3 raid. Jill is 4th on the suicide list, Jack is 5th and Jane is 6th. Jill and Jane are both currently raiding. Jack couldn’t make it. (He broke his crown.
) The [ Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle] drops from the Big Bad Wolf and Jill desperately wants it. Jill suicides and wins; she is dropped to the bottom of the list. Jack is not moved up, however, since he isn’t attending the raid. Instead, Jane is moved from 6th to 4th. Jack doesn’t lose his spot, but he doesn’t gain one either.
Note: Nethermore utilizes the Suicide Kings Geo add-on to track all suicide lists. Please feel free to download this add-on to track the lists during a raid and to view your position in the list.
