Nethermore VENT Raiding Policy
The primary purpose for the use of Nethermore's Ventrillo server during a raid is to enable the leadership team to give instruction to the raid. Raid boss encounters often require complex coordination and timing. Keeping the vent channel open so these instructions are clearly heard by all is critical to the success of the raid. Excessive general chatter particularly during boss encounters is counterproductive and can and will cause wipes.
With this end in mind the following rules are in effect for Ventrillo during all official guild raids.
Usage
1. There is to be NO general chat during boss encounters. The only players who are permitted to speak at this time are the Role Captains and the Raid Leader. If a Captain or the Raid Leader asks someone a direct question they can reply as needed. General chat includes making suggestions to the leadership as to strategy changes. The leadership team works together to develop and implement the raid's strategy. When a Captain or the Raid Leader needs input they will ask.
DEFINITATION OF A BOSS FIGHT a) The Staging area of the boss. This is the time when the Raid Leader will explain the fight and buffing will be taking place. If you are missing a buff, please use raid chat or ask in your class channel. If that fails, whisper your Captain. b) The actual fight. The only one to call a wipe is the Raid Leader, the Tanking Captain or the Healing Captain. Another example of a good use of vent, is asking for a buff that got dispelled, an add showing up, a patrol closing in, etc. An example of what NOT to talk about is: that uber piece of loot that you wish would drop, or what you are going to do with all the badges you've collected. c) Wipe recovery. In the event that the raid is unsuccessful and wipes, the only people that should be talking at this time are the rez’ers to announce who they are rez’ing and to ask where a person's corpse is or them asking you if you got the rez. d) Loot distribution. Even when the boss is down and the dead corpses are revived, the boss encounter is still not over. Loot needs to be distributed. Its very difficult to try and distribute the loot when everyone is talking giving blow-by-blows of the recent fight. It slows the distribution down, as the Loot Master needs to compete with everyone in vent to go through the announcing of the items and what stage the bidding is in. 2. During trash pulls the restrictions may be relaxed slightly but excessive chatter must still be kept to a minimum. The Raid Leader will decide what defines excessive chatter and will clear the channel as needed. Remember the vent server is always available for guild member usage during non raid times. During raid is not an appropriate time for general chit chat or discussion. Ie. Discussing your favorite TV show during a raid over vent is inappropriate. Feel free to use vent during non raid times for social purposes.
3. The raid has started for you when you enter into vent specified raid channel. Even though a pull has not been signaled, there are still pre-raid communications that needs to be done. IE, request for subs, summonings or the Raid Leader/Captain may call to a person as communication via the channel or tells was unsuccessful.
4. There is to be NO foul or abusive language used over vent. Nethermore is a casual raiding guild and many of it's members have children. These children could be listening to vent at any given time and, as such, language and content must be kept appropriate. This covers both cursing and inappropriate adult oriented conversations. The Raid Leader has the right to decide when something has crossed the line and can take action as needed.
5. These rules will be strongly adhered to for the 10 & 25 man raids.
RAID CHAT
Raid chat is also to be kept clear of general chat during raid. Announcing an emergency afk, etc. is one good example of proper use of raid chat. ENFORCEMENT
During each Nethermore raid the following channels are active.
NetherTank
NetherHeal
NetherDPS
There is a Role Captain for each role / chat channel. Each raider is expected to join the appropriate channels and use them to communicate with their Captain as well as one another. If you have an issue that needs to go to the Raid Leader you must take it to your Captain through the chat channel or by private tell, and the Captain will then take it to the Raid Leader as required. This allows the Raid Leader to spend her/his time focusing on critical issues to the raid. You are expected to join and monitor these channels during every official Nethermore raid. The Role Captains will announce themselves at the start of each raid.
Any player who does not follow the above guidelines will first be given a warning. After repeated violations the Raid Leader or Captain may revoke Vent voice privileges and have you globally muted for the duration of the raid or in extreme cases remove the player from the raid altogether.
