DKP Loot Rules

Nethermore DKP Loot Policy

Q. Why is Nethermore moving its 25 man raids to DKP?

A. Suicide kings had been a great system as we started raiding, however over time we have found it lacks the tools needed to reward positive behavior by our raiders. One constant challenge has been getting the entire raid to be present and ready to pull at the advertised start time. Another challenge has been getting reliable subs to be available even if they may not have a guaranteed spot. Whereas SK has no method by which to reward positive behaviors as noted above, DKP does. Essentially there are two ways to get folks to follow the rules. One is to strictly punish those who don’t, the other is to reward those who do. We have decided we would rather focus on rewarding our raiders.

Q. Wait a minute, isn’t Nethermore a casual guild? I thought DKP was hard core.

A. DKP is simply a method for loot distribution nothing more. The way the system is administered and the overall atmosphere of the raid dictates hard core vs casual, not the loot system. We have strived to make our implementation of DKP as simple and friendly as possible.

Q. Which raids will use DKP?

A. All official Nethermore 25 man raids will utilize a single DKP table. All 10 mans will be run off of individual Suicide Kings list as managed by the raid leaders.

Q. I was saving my spot on the SK list will I loose the time and effort I’ve already put it?

A. We recognize that some raiders may have passed on minor upgrades etc, to not only share the wealth, but to save their list position. Since it would be unfair to penalize these folks we will be awarding some DKP to players on the original 25 man list based on their most recent position. This should hold their place in line so to speak.

Q. So how does DKP Work in a nutshell?

A. Raiders will earn points for a series of actions in game. These points are saved up over time and spent on items. Think of DKP points as your paycheck for raiding. You can then spend those points on shiny new purples!

Q. If I miss raids will I be penalized?

A. No DKP will ever be deducted for NOT attending a raid. While you will not earn any new DKP, you will not have any deducted. Think of it as an unpaid day off. A reasonable number of absences should have little impact on your loot distribution.

Q. How is DKP specifically awarded?

A. As mentioned the move to DKP is in an effort to reward positive behaviors of our raiders. With that in mind DKP will be given for the following.

  •  1 DKP for signing up on the official Nethermore raid Calendar. Note: if you are a regular or are on our subs list you can even earn 1dkp for taking the time to sign up as not available when you can not make it.

  • 1 DKP will be awarded to any official sub who is online and ready to go but unable to attend due to lack of openings.

  • 1 DKP for being in raid on time.

  • 1 DKP for staying until the official end time.

  • 2 DKP for being present for a boss kill.

  • 1 DKP per hour of attempts on a new, UNKILLED boss. (Rounded up)

  • DKP is capped at 200 and -100 points.

Q. How is Participation DKP determined?

A. The loot master will look at the raid window when end time is declared. The names they see will be awarded 1 DKP. Participation DKP is awarded at the official raid end-time.

Q. How is On-time DKP determined?

At 15 minutes until the scheduled first pull, the loot master will check the raid panel. Every name listed there at that time will earn 1 DKP. (Times listed on the calendar are the scheduled first pull time)The only Exceptions made will be for people who are having technical difficulties, but who are trying their hardest to get back online and in raid.
If a raider is AFK when the final readycheck goes out before first pull, their on-time DKP point will be deducted.

Q. How and Why are subs being awarded DKP?

A. An important part of any raid is a reliable team of subs. We feel it is important to reward those who take the time to be online and ready at raid time in case they are needed. The Loot Master will check the official Nethermore chat channel 15 minutes prior to pull time. Any official subs in the channel and ready to go if needed will be awarded 1dkp.

Q. How and why is DKP being given for using the calendar?

A. Knowing who is attending a Raid ahead of time makes our Raid Leaders life much easier. As such we wish to encourage players to use the official calendar which can always be found linked at.
www.nethermore.net.

t. Raiders on our roster as regulars or subs who take the time to sign up as unavailable for raids they cannot attend will also be awared 1 dkp. At the end of the raid the Loot Master will check the calendar an award dkp accordingly. Note the raid sign ups will freeze before raid start so you can’t cheat the system.

Q. How Are Boss DKP Awards Determined?

A. On the night that the raid kills a new boss, the raid will receive BOTH the DKP from a new boss attempt and the 2 DKP for a boss kill. That's our thanks for being there to make it happen. After the first kill, the raid will only be credited 2 DKP for killing that boss again without exception.

If the raid makes at least one decent attempt on a new boss, the raid will earn 1 DKP. The raid leader will decide what constitutes a "good attempt". Wiping in the first 30 seconds of the attempt and calling it a night shouldn't earn DKP.

Q. Where can I check my DKP total?

A.
http://www.webdkp.com/dkp/Feathermoon/Nethermore/

Q. So how much will the Loot cost?

A. To keep things simple we have assigned prices based on the item slot. Prices are as follows and can also be found on our webdkp site at
http://www.webdkp.com/dkp/Feathermoon/Nethermore/LootTable

  • Two handed weapons: 40 DKP NEED, 20 DKP GREED

  • One handed weapons, shields, off-hand items and ranged weapons: 30 DKP NEED, 15 DKP GREED

  • Armor, totems, idols, wands and librams: 25 DKP NEED, 12 DKP GREED

  • Trinkets, Rings and Necklaces: 20 DKP NEED, 10 DKP GREED

  • Tier Armor tokens of any kind: 15 DKP, 7 DKP GREED

  • Class Trinkets: 10 DKP NEED, 5 DKP GREED

  • Patterns, Recipies, Schematics, Plans: 10 DKP NEED, 5 DKP GREED

A note regarding Patterns: Raiders who can immediately learn a pattern that drops get first priority, and should send the loot master a NEED tell. Crafters who can't yet learn the pattern, or who simply wish to bid greed, should send the loot master a GREED tell. If there are no crafters of that profession in raid that need or will use the pattern, it will banked.

-Nether Vortexes (Vorticies?) and Hearts of Darkness : 0 DKP. Nethers and Hearts will be distributed as follows:

1st Priority: Those who have a pattern that can use it, and are making something for that character or another character in the raid NOW. All priority tells will /roll for the Nether. Please link the item you are making.
2nd Priority: Those who have a pattern that can use it, and plan on making something at some point, for that character, an alt, or someone else's alt. All 2nd priority tells will /roll for the Nether. Please link the item you are making.

If there are no 1st or 2nd priority tells, Nethers and Hearts will be banked. If you don't yet have a pattern that uses a Nethers or Hearts, or just plain aren't making anything, check with the raid leader for retrieving nethers and hearts from our guild bank at a later time.

Nethers and Hearts that drop in raid are not being given out for personal profit. Do not bid PERIOD on a Nether or Heart if you're planning on using it to create a boe epic to put up for sale. We want them in the raid to make gear for the raid to help the raid. See a theme?

BOE Blues, assorted boe tokens, epic gems, marks and crafting materials are property of the raid and Nethermore unless it's been stated otherwise. If you want access to these items, contact your role captains and/or the raid leader.

Any gathering nodes (Mining, Herbalism, Skinning) in the raid instance that yield special loot will be collected by designated raid gatherers.

Q. Can I go into negative DKP?

A. Players may borrow up to -100 dkp in order to bid on gear. If on the off chance that a person does get to -100 dkp (very unlikely)and the person is the ONLY person that is bidding on an item. The item will be sharded. Its like reaching your maximum credit on a credit card.. no more charges until there have been some payments made. If someone has gotten to -100dkp, they would have gotten a lot of loot up to this point.

Q. Who earns DKP?

A. ALL raid members present that night will earn DKP. ALL DKP will be awarded at the END of the raid, not during. You will see DKP updates throughout the night. These awards apply at the end of raid.

Q. What about new raiders?

A. First time raiders will earn DKP their first night, and can bid on items their first night. However new raiders are considered to have a DKP total of -1,000,000 points at the start of the raid. This means on their first night, a new raider can ONLY win ANYTHING that NO OTHER raider wants to bid on, need or greed.

After their first night, a new raider's DKP will be set to 0, the night's DKP will be awarded to them, and any DKP spent on items they might have won will be immediately deducted from their new total. From there on out, the raider may bid on items normally at their current DKP total.

Q. How does bidding work?

A. The loot master will link an item, and ask for tells. If you are interested in an item, send a tell saying NEED or GREED.

People who say they NEED an item will get priority on the bidding. If no one has sent a NEED tell, the Loost Master will move on to work out the GREED tells.

Items that are distributed on a GREED basis will have their DKP cost reduced by 1/2.

When the Loot Master receives multiple NEED tells, they will compare DKP and award the item to the person with the highest DKP value. The same will apply to greed tells. The highest DKP wins, need before greed. In the event of equal DKP scores, Loot Master will ask the interested competing parties to /roll to determine the winner.

The DKP cost of an item will be immediately deducted from the winner's current DKP total.

It should go without saying, but, you may only bid on items you can actually equip and use.

Q. Need or greed? I thought this was DKP?

A. It is. Even though this is a DKP system, we want people to get upgrades that really need them, before people who just "sorta" or "don't really" need them. We're more interested in upgrades than side-grades or off-spec upgrades. This system is also intended to speed up the distribution of loot, rolling people's need and greed bids into one process.

Q. What about ALTS?

A. We realize that from time to time, whether because people want to gear them or we need them for the raid that night, we will have alts.
The policy:

  • Every character you bring to raid has their DKP tracked separately.
  • You commit to the raid with the character you said you were going to bring that night.
  • Requests to swap characters in the middle of the night will not be considered.
  • Swaps will only be allowed IF the raid leadership ASKS you to switch.
  • In the event a switch is required mid-raid, by the Raid Leader at their discretion they may allow the DKP earned by that player to be assigned to the toon of the players choice.
  • DKP is earned by the character that was present when it was awarded.
  • When we ASK someone to bring a different character other than the one we normally take, the character they logged off of will be credited an additional 2 DKP. The new character will earn the DKP they were present for.
  • Normally when a character, regardless of who is playing it, first is recorded on our DKP charts, they are treated like a new member of the raid.
  • The have an infinitely low DKP score and can only win loot no one else bids on.
  • After their first night, a new character's dkp is set to 0, their dkp is awarded, and deductions are made. From there on out they may bid their dkp as normal.
  • The raid leader and class captains decide which character the raid wants to bring. If there is no desire for the class you want to play, sorry, but do not ask us to let you bring that character.
  • Our Nethermore raids are generally full, and we have very little wiggle room with regards to bringing in other classes and changing our make up. Even in the event that we do have room, swaps will not be allowed to keep everything fair for the rest of the raid.

Q. Can I bid Need on off-spec gear?

A. We will never dictate how a raider can spend their dkp. That being said we ask that you be courteous and consider what’s best for the raid as a whole. If you take a piece of gear for Off-Spec that would have been a major in-spec upgrade for a fellow raider it will be noted. Folks who consistently put their needs above the raid in this manner may be asked to leave the raid.

Q. Why the discount for GREED bids?

A. Because we want people to take loot if it's an upgrade of some sort for them. It's better than sharding it. And we don't want people sitting on their DKP, hedging their bets that no one else will bid on an item. That slows loot down dramatically, and slow loot sessions mean less time spent actually raiding. Consider the DKP discount on GREED bids to be an incentive to spend your DKP rather than horde it.

Q. Wait I have more questions?

A. Contact any officer and they will be happy to answer your questions.

Q. But wait I think DKP stinks and we'd be beter off using X

A. Please note this is the new loot system as voted on by your leadership. This document is an explanation not an invitation for debate. We feel this system is what is best in line with the guilds needs and values.
