Ventrilo Usage Policy

The Ventrilo (aka Vent) Server is available for all guild members to use. The guild encourages its use for raids, 5-man instance runs, questing, general grouping or just general discussion. The guild leadership believes that interaction between members in different ways promotes camaraderie and friendship.

However, the Vent server is a resource that supports a limited number of connections. This policy is designed to serve as a guideline regarding the utilization of that limited resource.

Guild Events
All guild sanctioned events are given priority over other events. This includes, but isn't limited to, guild meetings, raids, recruiting events, etc. Normally guild sanctioned events should not collide in schedule (i.e. a guild meeting won't be scheduled at the same time as a 25-man raid). In such case as that may happen, the following order of preference should be considered:

1. Any recurring event is given first preference (e.g., weekly raids).

2. The larger of the events is given preference.

Questing, Grouping and General Discussion
For typical questing and grouping, it is fairly normal to limit Vent use to only guild members. That isn't to say you can't invite non-guild members to use our Vent, but that those times should be the exceptions rather than the norm. For example, if you were grouped with 4 other individuals, all of whom were not guild members, it would normally be inappropriate to use the guild Vent server. On the other hand, if 4 guild members were grouped, it would be acceptable to invite a 5th, non-guild member to join Vent.

* All 10-man and 25-man guild sanctioned raids and 5-man instance runs are given preference for Vent use over use for quests, grouping, etc. If the maximum number of connected users is reached, members using Vent for this reason will be asked to disconnect in favor of the raid or instance runs.

5-man use
For running 5-man instances, any group containing at least three guild members can utilize the server without restriction*. Any group with less than three guild members may utilize the server, but may be asked to disconnect if the maximum number of connected user are reached.

* All 10-man and 25-man guild sanctioned raids are given preference for Vent over 5-man instances. If the maximum number of connected users is reached, members using Vent for this reason will be asked to disconnect in favor of the raid.

10-man use
The preference is that 10-man raids be guild sanctioned in order to use the Vent server. For non-sanctioned 10-man raids, the Vent server may be used without prior permission if 50% or more of the raid members are guild or alliance members. For other non-sanctioned 10-man raids, prior permission is required for use.

25-man use
Only guild sanctioned 25-man raids may utilize the Vent server.
